Mark Roberts

Fire and Forestry Project Coordinator

Mark became part of the CLERC team in August 2022 as a Fire & Forestry Project Coordinator. He juggles this role part-time while also serving as the Senior Planner (planning manager) for a local governmental agency. Mark's dedication to both positions leads him to work for CLERC during evenings and on his days off from his city job.

With a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Environmental Studies and Planning from Sonoma State University, a certificate in Geographical Information Systems (GIS) from San Francisco State University, and multiple certificates in Emergency Management Systems/Protocols from FEMA, Mark has amassed over ten years of professional planning and environmental experience, including expertise in CEQA/NEPA analysis, gained from various governmental agencies. He possesses a strong understanding of Federal, State, and local agency regulations, ordinances, and policies. Being a local, Mark is well-versed in the critical fire and forest health issues that CLERC and the community are addressing.

Mark's roots trace back to the Russian River in Sonoma County, where he spent his childhood swimming in the Russian River and nearby creeks, as well as exploring the hills of his beloved community. His passion for the outdoors was ignited at an early age and continues to thrive. Mark has also spent nearly a decade rock climbing throughout California and Nevada, although he has scaled back on this activity in recent times. Nevertheless, his love for the outdoors endures.

A few of his favorite things: exploring remote wilderness areas, camping, backpacking, hiking, fishing, skiing the slopes of Tahoe, or engaging in various outdoor pursuits.
